Trucks Cartel

On 12 July 2017, CDC brought an action for compensation against MAN, Volvo / Renault, Daimler, Iveco and DAF before the District Court of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. This action covers all truck brands, including Scania. In this context, CDC is already pursuing the claims from more than 700 large companies and SMEs throughout Europe. CDC’s action is considered the most advanced and ‘lead action’ in the Netherlands.

Sugar Cartel

On 16 February 2017, CDC filed an action for damages before the Regional Court of Hannover, Germany in relation to the German sugar cartel. CDC has purchased damage claims from 63 German retailers and food/beverage manufacturers, which were affected by the anticompetitive agreements and practices as direct or indirect purchasers of sugar and substitute products during the cartel period.

Paraffin Wax Cartel

Paraffin Wax Cartel

In 2011, CDC filed in The Hague, the Netherlands, a legal action enforcing claims for damages resulting from the Europe-wide paraffin wax cartel. Previously, CDC had acquired the claims from eight purchasers of paraffin wax. Paraffin wax is mainly used for candle production but has also a wide range of applications in packaging, cosmetics, construction and food industry.

Sodium Chlorate Cartel

Sodium Chlorate Cartel

In May 2011, CDC filed an action against four members of the Europe-wide sodium chlorate cartel in the Courts of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Sodium chlorate is a bleaching agent mainly used in the pulp and paper industry. Ten pulp and paper companies with a total of 27 production sites located in 9 European countries sold their claims for damages resulting from the sodium chlorate cartel to CDC.

Hydrogen Peroxide Cartel

CDC’s first damage case which resulted in landmark judgments and several settlements relates to the Europe-wide Hydrogen Peroxide cartel. Hydrogen Peroxide is a bleaching agent which is mainly used by the pulp and paper industry. CDC launched damage actions in 2009 in Germany and in 2011 in Finland.

Cement Cartels

Cement Cartels

The activities of CDC Cartel Damage Claims in relation to the German cement cartels have attracted considerable attention both in Germany and internationally. CDC brought two legal actions in Germany concerning damage claims acquired from more than 35 corporate customers of the German cement producers, at the time when such actions had not been ever tested before. The first action for damages was filed in 2005 before the Regional Court of Düsseldorf, and the second one in 2015 before the Regional Court of Mannheim.
