High profile career opportunity: experienced competition economist / econometrician

CDC Cartel Damage Claims with offices in Brussels, Luxembourg and Kaiserslautern (Germany) is the pioneer and leading player in the field of private enforcement of antitrust damage litigation in Europe.

We are looking for an experienced competition economist / econometrician. As a member of our multidisciplinary and multinational team, you will be at the heart of the most prominent antitrust damage actions in Europe. You will be responsible for the economic analyses in present and future cases. With your contributions, we are looking to expand our activities in pursuing damage claims stemming from cartels and abusive conduct at a pan-European level. Your tasks will include all aspects of the preparation and management of damage actions from an economic perspective, including:

  • economic analyses for litigation purposes and out-of-court settlements;
  • building up expert knowledge on relevant markets, products and the infringements as well as the general economic framework;
  • the ongoing assessment of data requirements, availability and applicability;
  • all aspects of data collection, standardisation, quality management, security, reliability, evaluation and presentation;
  • communication with damaged companies on economic and data-related aspects;
  • cooperation with external economic experts, i.e. consultancies and/or Professors of leading academic institutions in several jurisdictions;
  • the management of internal resources and staff.

We are looking for a highly-motivated, communicative and hands-on colleague, with at least three years of professional experience in the field of competition consulting. Furthermore, an excellent academic background in competition economics and empirical analysis is required. Your comprehensive range of skills should include:

  • a sound understanding of competition economics and the interplay between economic/econometric analyses and competition law;
  • attention to detail, strong communication skills and an entrepreneurial mindset;
  • the ability to organise large data gathering and cleaning projects involving a multitude of heterogeneous data sources;
  • expert knowledge of programming languages and software packages for data and statistical analysis e.g. Python, STATA, R, SPSS, SAS or similar;
  • an excellent command of English as well as at least one other major European language (all other languages are an asset).
